Brazilian novelist, poet, and artist, Ana Miranda, born in Ceará, in 1951, is one of the most important voices of contemporary Brazilian Literature. Her first book, Boca do Inferno (1989) remained  two years in the list of best-sellers. It has been awarded with the Jabuti Prize of Best Novel, and considered part of the 100 Greatest 20th Century Books in Portuguese Language (O Globo 1998). For Dias & Dias she received another Jabuti Award and the Brazilian Academy of Letters' Prize. Her novel Yuxin (2009), received the Green Meeting Award. Her work has been translated in almost 20 languages. A keen interest in Brazilian literary history led her to several years of intensive research into the life and times of some poets, subjects of her novels - like the satirical Gregório de Matos, the pre-Modernist Augusto dos Anjos, the poet of the Brazilian Romanticism Gonçalves Dias; and authors like José de Alencar – doing a meticulous reconstruction of the country’s rich cultural heritage, and of some forgotten languages. She published more than twenty books. Born in Ceará, in 1951, after five decades living in Rio, Brasília and São Paulo, she returned to her birth place. She was writer in residence at Department of Spanish and Portuguese of èצӰÏñ, in 1997.
