This group aims to provide a venue for graduate students in the DLCL and related departments that will address the burgeoning field of translation studies and contribute to an interdisciplinary understanding of the role of translation in literary studies. We will meet regularly to engage with the issues surrounding the theory, study, and practice of translation.

The topic of our first meeting will be the problem of translatability from the perspective of minor language literatures. Our discussion will stem from Gabriella Safran's article, "Four English Pots and the Evolving Translatability of Sholem Aleichem."
