Event Description:

The eminent Francophone writer Emmanuel Dongala will read from his work. A chemist specializing in stereochemistry, Dongala, as a novelist, has received critical acclaim, several literary prizes and a Guggenheim Fellowship. His latest novel, Johnny chien méchant, translated in English as Johnny Mad Dog: a Novel (Farrar, Strauss and Giroux, 2005), deals with the topic of politics, war and children soldiers. This widely applauded novel is being made into film by the French film maker Mathieu Kassovitch.
