The POEMS Reading Group and MANTIS are thrilled to invite you to a reading by poet John Ioannidis, who will share work from his latest collection, Μετά τα αφύσικα (Meta-A-Physics – Athens: Kedros, 2018). The poems will be read both in Greek and in John’s own translation into English. As usual, anyone and everyone is welcome to attend!
 
 
About our speaker, John P.A. Ioannidis holds the C.F. Rehnborg Chair in Disease Prevention at èצӰ where he is Professor of Medicine, of Health Research and Policy, of Biomedical Data Science, and of Statistics and co-Director of the Meta-Research Innovation Center at èצӰ (METRICS). He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and an Einstein Fellow. He directs the COMPLIT 208 course on Modern Greek Poetry and he has published 7 literary books in Greek, two of which (“Toccata for the Girl with the Burnt Face” (Kedros 2012) and “Variations on the Art of the Fugue and a Desperate Ricercar” (Kedros 2014)) were shortlisted for best book of the year Anagnostis awards.
