Owen White(Ph.D, University of Oxford, 1996) specializes in the history of modern France and the French colonial empire, with particular research interests in French West Africa and Algeria. He has published articles on a variety of aspects of French colonial history, and a book entitledChildren of the French Empire: Miscegenation and Colonial Society in French West Africa, 1895-1960. His current research interests include Catholic missionaries and the French Empire in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the history of wine production in French Algeria.
