The Screenwriting Research Unit is continuing its activities this quarter. In conjunction with the ongoing Film Series, we will meet to discuss the novel No Country for Old Men, its screenplay, and the Coen Brothers’ film.

The movie is to be shown, as part of the Series, on March 12 at 7pm. Our group aims to meet on March 5 from 5-7PM to discuss the book on which the film was based, by Cormac McCarthy, and then on March 12, from 5-7PM (immediately preceding the film) to discuss the screenplay (pdf, to be distributed in first meeting) and its relationship to the book, as well as McCarthy’s other work.

At both of our discussion sessions, we will serve drinks and dinner.

Please RSVP if you are interested or have any questions. We have copies of McCarthy’s books for the first five of you to get back to us! We will produce a collaborative paper (as we did last quarter with the Uruguayan movie Whisky), but there is no obligation to contribute.
