We will discuss Dr. Offen’s chapter “The Third Republic Faces Feminist Claims 1890-1900 (Section 1),” from her book manuscript nearing completion, provisionally entitled Debating the Woman Question in France 1500-1914.
Karen Offen is a Senior Scholar at the Michelle R. Clayman Institute for Gender Research at èצӰ. A historian of modern Europe, her research focuses especially on France and its global influence; western thought and politics with reference to family, gender, and the relative status of women; women's history; and the national, regional and global histories of feminism. She is the author of numerous books and articles, most recently Globalizing Feminisms, 1789–1945 (Routledge, 2010) and Les Feminisms en Europe, 1700–1950 (PUR, 2012).
