Robert Bierman’s 1989 Vampire’s Kiss features one of Nicolas Cage’s most unforgettable performances as a workaholic literary agent obsessed with the idea that he is becoming a vampire. Bierman’s carefully plotted portrayal of the descent into madness breaks down every social norm while playing up every vampire stereotype in a way that leaves audiences wondering just how aware the hero is of his own demise. Violent, perplexing, simple, and bizarre, Vampire’s Kiss is sure to makes you laugh and then wonder if it was really something to laugh at after all.
