This genre-defining procedural re-investigates the murder of a Texas police officer on the night of Thanksgiving, 1976. Morris, a one-time private investigator, presents noir-esque reconstructions and scrutinizing interviews over a cold and frightening Philip Glass score. The final creation is as much an atmosphere as a casebook; about rescuing of a man from death row and musing on the ambiguities of existence.
