Isabelle Yasmina Adjani is a French literature teacher in a middle school in the banlieues of Paris. Disenfranchised and marginalized, her students are unmotivated and prone to acts of violence and abusive behavior. One day she herself resorts to violence during the rehearsal of a play after discovering a gun in a student's backpack. Taking the students hostage, she uses the opportunity to force them to learn and perform a play by Molière at gunpoint. Skirt Day also provided the story for the celebrated German play, Verrücktes Blut (Crazy Blood) (2010).
