Roman Polanski's adaption of Yasmina Reza's stage play exchanges a plush Paris apartment for its Brooklyn equivalent while maintaining the single-set scrutiny of the original. Over the course of an unrelenting 80 minutes held in Michael and Penelope Longstreet's front room we witness the breakdown of bourgeois good manners as the Longstreet's and the Cowan's aggressively defend the unruly behaviour of their gradeschool sons. What beings as an adult discussion soon descends into name-calling, tantrums and hymns to the God of Carnage.
