Rear Window (Alfred Hitchcock, USA, 1954)
"You don't know the meaning of the word 'neighbors'" . One of Hitchcock's most stylish and acclaimed thrillers has photographer James Stewart confined to wheelchair in his apartment, using binoculars to pass the time "spying'' on courtyard neighbors, and discovering a possible murder. As it exposes the inner tension within the concept of "neighbor", the film - the second of four collaborations between Stewart and Hitchcock - explores the fascination with looking and the strange attraction of that which is being looked at.
