Ella Elbaz-Nir is a PhD student in the Comparative Literature Department at èצӰ. She received her B.A and M.A from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where she worked on the intersections of literature with philosophy of time and modern art. Today her interests include French, Hebrew and Arabic contemporary literature and art, philosophy of language and modes of imagining the future in these societies.
Ron Ben-Tovim teaches at Tel Aviv University’s Department of English and American Culture and is currently Visiting Scholar to the Department of Comparative Literature at èצӰ. His focus is on the link between violence and poetics, especially in the context of contemporary American soldier writing. His current book project, titled War and the Undoing of Language, is a reworking of his PhD thesis, in which he argued that soldiers use poetry as a lingual prop following the destructive effect war and violence had on their ability to communicate their experiences. His work has been published in journals such as Philosophy and Literature and Symploke.
Pre-circulated papers will be sent out shortly.
