Conference: 'Under the Magnifying Lens: Catalan Cinema ofthe Real'
Between the documentary and the feature film, contemporary Catalan directors have developed a film form that explores visual surfaces and the real-time rhythms of everyday life, while excavating the unusual and the uncanny from the customary and the recurrent. This new school of cinema, based for the most part on low-budget production and circulating largely outside commercial networks, is attracting critical attention in international film festivals. "Under the Magnifying Lens" brings to èצӰÏñ some of the directors associated with this new wave of cinema and aims to provide a compact "history" and critical assessment of a movement that could be considered a new Barcelona school of cinema.
