Dear fellow historians,

With the support of the Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages (DLCL) and the Department in African & African American Studies (DAAAS), the Caribbean Studies Reading Group invites you to a lunchtime scholar spotlight with  in Lane History Corner (Room #307) on Wednesday, February 28 at 12 PM. Professor Jean-Baptiste is the Michelle Mercer and Bruce Golden Family Professorship in Feminist and Gender Studies and a historian of the Atlantic World. 

We will be discussing the untold stories of Haitian history, with a specific focus on gender. To do so, we will compare "The Power in the Story" (Michel Rolph-Trouillot, Silencing the Past) and the introduction of White Gloves, Back Nations (Grace Sanders Johnson). We're excited to welcome Professor Jean-Baptiste to the Caribbean academic community at èצӰÏñ!
